the one where hildy swears at the USB drive.

I’ve never used them much but I have a 2gb one that I use for readyboost.

It went haywire a few days ago, and now it won’t work - just says it doesn’t have the right performance specs. I think because on this laptop it has a habit of falling out. I’ve been trying to reformat it but to no luck. I don’t know what settings… FAT… FAT32… that other one I can’t remember? And how many bytes?

I think that next time I’ll just go for an SD card.

because there isn’t really any good time…

To get one’s wisdom teeth out. I’ve been procrastinating about it for around 10 years and just finally ran out of excuses. Up until the day I looked for any excuse under the sun to get out of it.

I couldn’t blame the cost (insurance fully covered it) or taking time off work (had plenty of sick leave) or just generally terrified of it (because they were causing some trouble & it didn’t seem as bad as the alternative) so I had to go ahead with it. And it was either literally now or wait until May.

So it’s a few days now since that took place. My face is still swollen and my jaws feel like they have been hit by a bus. I’ve spent the past couple of days at home curled up on the couch with my laptop and the sky remote and won’t be going back to work until Friday.

It all feels a little endless right now.

hildy and the “before photo”.

Another Wednesday, another WW meeting.

For a couple of weeks our leader has been asking us to bring in “before” pictures. There’s nothing like bringing in a picture of me in Fiji in September 2006… and comparing that to now. I think I’ll keep that in mind over the Christmas season. :)

Not a lot else going on really. I’ve been procrastinating about transferring all my files over from the desktop to this laptop. I’m trying to grow 2 tomato plants and they haven’t died yet. And my favourite sushi store St Pierres has finally opened here….

the one where hildy gets a new computer.

After whining for two years about having a desktop, I’ve finally got a brand new laptop.

w00t!!!!!

For the longest time I didn’t need one. Then things like housebuying… and cars…. and fridges kinda got in the way. But lately my desktop has been getting sluggish and an eyesore in my lounge. So I went off to Noel Leeming again this morning and bought a Compaq running Windows Vista.

It’s connected to the internet wirelessly without a hitch , and I’ve started installing programs in preparation for transferring over my files. I also have more programs to run and need to also test the internet connection without my desktop computer running at the same time. Then I can remove my desktop and get rid of it.

And shockingly I haven’t spent all day at home glued to my screen. I had to do a few errands, visit someone and mow my back lawn. Although right now I’m on my couch, watching E! ;)

I do wonder though….. how long it’ll take me before I start surfing the interweb thingy solely in my bedroom. Or in my backyard.

oops. a catchup post.

it’s been a few months.

well it’s been a year now since i’ve moved into my little flat. tomorrow to be exact is the one year anniversary of the day my mortgage became a reality.

i’ve lost a total of twenty two point four kilos and have six point nine kilos to go.

i finally got several inches got cut off my hair and discovered lush’s blonde shampoo bar.

i got sky tv installed and seem to watch either the crime investigation network or girls of the playboy mansion & dr 90210 on E!. i do not like having to input my account pin to watch the latter programs though.

i bought an old set of drawers for $85 two weeks ago. i have the best intentions of restoring them for use in my bedroom (cannot beat solid rimu timber) but so far have only managed to strip paint off 2 1/2 of the six drawers.

work is going very very very well. and i get a nice christmas holiday break of 2 1/2 weeks. the longest i’ve had since 2003/2004.

my computer is starting to get old and cantankerous. it totally rebelled at me installing office 2007 and hates too many programs open at once (ie. any more than one) so i’m on the hunt for a new laptop with plenty of RAM.

i rediscovered supergroove which was one of my favourite kiwi bands as a teenager. they are getting constant play on my ipod.

and that is all for now. :)

The one where Hildy turns 30.

I’m no longer in my twenties. :(

And I feel like I’m a hundred and one.

Learning my lessons (and not the hard way for once).

The last few weeks have been a bit topsy-turvy on the weight loss front. Two weeks ago I ate one sausage roll @ work too many and gained 100 grams. Last week I went to New Plymouth for a few days and gained 700 grams thanks to restaurant food and one chai latte too many.

But the best thing about it, was that I did weigh in after my trip. I didn’t put it off a week, which could easily have stretched into eternity. I couldn’t go to my regular weight watchers meeting @ 9am so I went to the 6pm one. Getting on the scales and being honest about the second gain was the best thing I could have done. My leader was also taking that meeting and reinforced my decision, coming and talking to me a couple of times. She was so pleased to see that I hadn’t missed a week too.

And it’s not like I gained all the weight back. ;)

So this past week echos a line out of a Fred & Ginger musical (Swing Time, which is my favourite): “Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, start all over again…”

And it was back on the scale today. And to my relief I’d lost 1.4 kilos. So I’m weighing less than when the gains started. And more committed than ever.

Yeah still here.

I haven’t been much in the mood for updating… but I should try harder.

I’ve lost more weight since I last blogged. I got to my 10% goal and ten kilos last week. This week I lost a further 0.8 kilos. Nothing fits properly anymore and I’m hoping to get well under 80kg by my 30th birthday in July.

I also can’t poke fun at people who like to work with wool anymore… as I’ve learned how to crochet in the past couple of weeks. I bought some wool and crochet needles… and taught myself off the internet. One of my colleagues gave me the link to some really good tutorials and I sacrificed one plastic needle to the process.

And on Monday I went back to Spotlight and bought some gorgeous soft wool in a dark rose colour… and an aluminium crochet hook (so I don’t break it!!). I’m doing a throw so it will take awhile. But it’s starting to take shape and I think it looks pretty good. ;)
